WOW! We're three-quarters of the way through 2016. Now, that we're moving into the fourth quarter, it is time to check to see where you are on your goals for the year.

With Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's coming up, it is time to see where you are budget wise in regards to your holiday plans and Christmas shopping. We don't want anyone regressing with holiday debt. If needed, tighten your belt buckle and sock money away for your holiday expenses.

It is also time to start preparing for your winter heating bills. Put away extra this month and next month so that you don't dig a hole with your December-January-February heating bills.

For newbies and lurkers: We welcome newbies and would like to have you join us for October. There are no set rules, you make and follow your own financial rules as well as set your own personal goals. This is not a competition, so don't be over zealous and too aggressive, set personal goals and budgets that you can actually accomplish, but make sure you push forward by not being too lenient or easy on yourself. In other words, make it challenging for you. Each person's circumstances are different, some of us have big families and some of us may be single or empty nesters.
