Problem with spend $8 deal

Went to DG today to get some Tresseme in the 'spend $8, save $2 instantly' deal. Just bought 2 bottles @ 4.00/ea. They rang up right and the $2 off kicked in. Then i gave my 2 $1.00/1 Q's/ The screen showed them being taken off but when the cashier totaled, it added $2 back in. Cashier tried to manually override but couldn't get it to work so simply said 'I guess you can't use these on this sale'. I informed him that you can use Q's on sale items and the screen even showed the Q's coming off before the total. He shrugged his shoulders and suggested I call corporate.

Called corporate. They were very nice and long story short, advised the Q's should have come off and they would have to send in a ticket to have someone look at it. Doesn't help me at all as I had to leave them behind.

Wondering if I has purchased other items and my total was over $8 would it have worked? Kinda frustrated as this was my first attempt at using Q's at DG....

So it's not quite free, but I'll take $0.01 for dogfood lol. And even if you don't have dogs, it's good to donate if you want the rebate :)
