July 2016 Low Spend / No Spend

Become financially independent; not dependent on debt.

We're in July and on a long Fourth of July weekend. If you're having a cookout, doing a weekend trip, playing with fireworks, etc., enjoy yourself and have a fun filled and safe weekend. Hopefully, you planned ahead, budgeted and saved for it. Under absolutely no reason, condition or circumstance whatsoever, by fireworks on a credit card. That is blowing up any progress that you made.

We are at the midway point of 2016, time to look over your annual budget and check your progress on your goals. Also, if you are on a utility equal payment plan, time to check on that as well. You don't want to finish the year up, right after the holidays, and find out that you dug a big hole and owe a pile of money to a utility company.

For newbies and lurkers: We welcome newbies and would like to have you join us for July. There are no set rules, you make and follow your own financial rules as well as set your own personal goals. This is not a competition, so don't be over zealous and too aggressive, set personal goals and budgets that you can actually accomplish, but make sure you push forward by not being too lenient or easy on yourself. In other words, make it challenging for you. Each person's circumstances are different, some of us have big families and some of us may be single or empty nesters.

I just mowed through Season 4 of House of Cards, ALL of Nurse Jackie and the movie Spotlight.

I'm thinking about Bloodline and Marco Polo, but would take more suggestions. Also, are there any more "new" movies available?
