Restarting Low Spend / No Spend_June 2016

Some of us did a partial month of Low Spend / No Spend last month. Now, it's June, that means our first full month since our return to Low Spend / No Spend; and we're hoping to welcome back some of our old friends, as well as to welcome some new friends this month. Feel free to jump in at anytime.

Don't forget that Father's Day is Sunday June 19.

One thing you can always count on, summer means the temperatures are going to rise, and as the temps rise, so do our electrical bills. Plan accordingly.

The summer vacation season is upon us and summer officially arrives on June 20. Some frugal summer fun and activities are going to the zoo, camping, hiking, swimming, horseshoes, bad-mitten, cookouts and making homemade ice cream out on the porch or deck. Don't forget about taking a stroll through free festivals, fairs and other events.

Did you know that you can squeeze in three (3) weekend get-a-ways for about the same cost as a week long vacation? Well, maybe add in a little gas if more combined miles are traveled. Day trips are fun as well, and you won't have lodging cost.

If you have a garden and if it hasn't already started producing for you, it won't be long before you will be harvesting fresh homegrown veggies and fruits.

We welcome newbies and would like to have you join us for June. There are no set rules, you make and follow your own financial rules as well as set your own personal goals. This is not a competition, so don't be over zealous and too aggressive, set personal goals and budgets that you can accomplish, but make sure you push forward by not being too lenient on yourself.

I cannot believe this year is almost half way over. I have gone through so many changes these last months that sometimes it is hard to believe. We are changing once again as we will be living mostly at my house until we get the new one built next year. Katie's baby will be here before we know it. Laura will be babysitting her babies soon. After I get situated again, I need to start my stockpile again. I am hoping the sales improve. I was very disappointed in the Memorial Day sales. I am hoping that one of my friends might share some of her produce with us. I look forward to hearing from everyone this month. I hope things improve for you, Hoppy.
